Silver Falls, we need to talk. Netflix dropped all 10 episodes of My Life With the Walter Boys Season 3 on August 6, and in true Walter fashion, the show took “the path of true love never runs smooth” and turned it into a full-blown demolition derby literally.
Buckle up if you spent Season 2 yelling at your TV because Jackie finally confessed her love for Cole around four seconds before an ambulance arrived for George Walter. That’s where Season 3 begins, and for some reason, it gets more messier. Let’s review everything that happened, so grab some popcorn (or your inhaler, given that finale).
Quick Refresher: Where We Left Off
As the second season came to a close, Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez), who was still seeing Cole Walter’s brother Alex (Ashby Gentry), finally confessed her love for him. Alex overheard the entire exchange. Before anyone could process that emotional grenade, Walter patriarch George Walter had a medical emergency and emergency vehicles arrived. Cliffhanger of the century. Naturally, Netflix made us wait a full year to find out if George survived.

George Is Okay (Mostly), and Everyone’s Feelings Are Not
Season 3 opens with George recovering at home from his health scare, while Jackie and Cole finally seem to be heading toward the real relationship fans have wanted since episode one. For a hot minute, it actually looks like the show is going to let these two crazy kids be happy. Adorable. Naive. Doomed.
Jackie, ever the perfectionist people-pleaser, spends the early episodes trying to balance track practice, community center commitments, and the emotional chaos of being in love with a Walter boy because apparently high school wasn’t hard enough already. In the meantime, Cole returns to driving a race car after a recruiter sees potential in him, and Alex deals with the breakup by joining his new rodeo team. This is a genuine character-growth story twist. Everyone finds a new rush of adrenaline to deal with heartbreak. Really, it’s relatable.
Enter Eliot: The New York Ex Nobody Asked For
Just when Jackie and Cole start feeling stable (again, doomed), the show introduces Eliot, Jackie’s childhood friend from New York who represents everything about her old life ambition, hustle culture, and the fast lane she left behind when she moved to Colorado. Her uncle Richard, who has never met a Walter boy he didn’t side-eye, is thrilled.
Then, in the plot twist nobody saw coming after everything they’d been through: Cole tells Jackie he loves her and immediately breaks up with her. He moves out of the Walter house and in with his friend Dylan, leaving Jackie (and every viewer with a functioning heart) completely blindsided.
The Secret Nobody Asked Cole To Keep
Here’s where the show earns its “messy” reputation. What Jackie doesn’t know because Cole is apparently allergic to healthy communication is that he went to her uncle Richard to explain he broke up with her so she could have a better future without him “dragging her down”. Real productive way to show your love, Cole.
Cole then quietly asks Richard for help fixing up the flooded community center, roping in George and the rest of the Walter family all without taking any credit when it gets finished. It’s the romantic equivalent of anonymously venmo-ing someone and then avoiding eye contact with them forever.
While Cole plays secret benefactor, Jackie starts getting closer to Eliot, who makes his feelings for her increasingly clear going as far as flying from London to join her on a trip to Greece. Nothing says “I’m just a friend” like transatlantic grand gestures.
The Alex & Kiley Subplot That Snuck Up On Everyone
Alex subtly has the most pleasant glow-up of the season while the Jackie-Cole drama takes over the group discussion. He kisses his longtime best friend Kiley after realizing he has feelings for her following their split. What is the catch? Kiley is in a relationship with Dylan, the same Dylan whose couch Cole is presently sleeping on in this town, which has about six people on it.
Alex, showing genuinely surprising maturity for a guy who spent two seasons pouting, ultimately becomes the one who defends Cole’s honor to Jackie instead of holding a grudge. Character development? In THIS show? We love to see it.
The Finale: A Party, A Confession, And A Car Crash
Everything collides at the community center’s 1920s-themed launch party (because subtlety was never this show’s strong suit). Alex finally tells Jackie the truth: Cole was behind the entire community center restoration.Jackie is left in shock and has to reevaluate what she believed to be true about the breakup.
She sends Cole a message. He sees it right before a race.
Then, in true Walter Boys fashion, the show decides one cliffhanger isn’t enough:
Jackie kisses Eliot during the party, and just as she’s taking in Cole’s message, she returns the kiss. Cole smashes his car, gets into a furious argument with rival racer Danvers, and leaves the starting line to tell Jackie how he feels. You did indeed read that correctly. Jackie kisses one man as the season comes to a close, while the other man may be struggling for his life in a wreckage. My Life With the Walter Boys is not subtle.
So… Does Cole Survive?
As of the Season 3 finale, Cole’s fate is left officially unclear, and Netflix has confirmed Season 4 is already on the way to answer that question along with the small matter of whether Jackie ends up with Cole, Eliot, or takes a page from Season 1 Jackie and just books a flight out of Silver Falls entirely.

The Verdict
My Life With the Walter Boys has never been shy about ending a season on a gut-punch, and Season 3 might be its cruelest yet. Jackie and Cole’s happy ending is abruptly taken away by the show in the most dramatic way imaginable, complete with a secret sacrifice, a new love triangle vertex in Eliot, and, just for good measure, a physical car crash.
Season 3 was a full-fledged inferno, whereas Season 2 was a gradual burn. We now have to wait once more to see if Cole survives, who Jackie ultimately selects, and whether Alex and Kiley get their turn. You’ve done it once more, Silver Falls.
