MobLand Season 2
Do you recall how we watched the Harrigans leave, unsure if any of them would manage to make it out of the other end of their own dinner table? Good news for their therapist, but fantastic news for all of us, since Paramount+ has finally released the full trailer for MobLand Season 2 and, unsurprisingly, the favorite crime family of North London doesn’t seem to have done a lot of soul searching during their hiatus.
Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren are all putting on suits for another season that delivers exactly what the logline warned us about: lack of unity, lack of mercy, and an abundance of loyalties crumbling as easily as cheap phone chargers. MobLand returns September 18, and judging by this trailer, the creators of the series don’t seem to be shying away from the notion that family and gang wars aren’t very different things after all.
We have now covered everything we needed to cover about betrayals of season 1 (and a lot happened during Season 1), but now let’s take a step back and see what happened prior to all of that.
Quick Refresher: What Happened in MobLand Season 1
The series MobLand has brought us the character of Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) – a rather detached and perpetually tired “fixer” working for the Harrigans, a notorious crime family where he works as a clean-up guy but doesn’t even get a “thank you” card for that. Harrigans headed by Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and his ice-cold wife Maeve (Helen Mirren) are North London mobsters, and Season 1 gave us 10 episodes to witness how “family business” means “gradual destruction from within.”
In the process of watching the season, we have witnessed the Harrigans’ struggle against their rivals, problems with their missing child, betrayal, and Conrad’s increasing madness. By the end of the season, it became obvious that things went terribly wrong: Conrad and Maeve were put in prison, and poor Harry Da Souza who simply tried to do his job got stabbed by his wife in the chest due to her panic attack. Nice family, isn’t it?
Yes, indeed, Season 1 ended with our fixer literally dying out of blood loss and the head of the family being behind bars. Of course, Season 2 starts off with a question: “How bad could things really be?” The answer: very.

Conrad and Maeve Are Back In the Mix
This scene shows Conrad and Maeve right back in the middle of things, and implying that being locked up isn’t going to be enough to keep them away from the Harrigan family feud for long. Conrad seems less like a reformed character and more like one who has determined that lessons aren’t for him. As one character put it, he “went completely bonkers berserk,” and it’s not far off the mark.
Harry Is Already Over It
With his portrayal of Harry, Tom Hardy starts the trailer off with a warning that serves as the thesis statement of the whole season: “This family is in a death spiral.” This is the kind of statement you make once and then watch everybody ignore it. Harry, for the entire trailer, acts like a guy trying to diffuse a bomb while those who set it up are still connecting wires for the hell of it.
A Family Fracturing From Within
While the first season may have been a case of Harrigans versus the rest of the world, it seems like the second season could be a struggle of the Harrigans against themselves. From what we see in the previews, things seem to get pretty heated with Conrad and his son Kevin (Paddy Considine). Therefore, it seems the biggest threat facing the Harrigans this season will come from themselves. They may try to “present a united front” as the official logline claims, but all that means is “they will kill each other, literally.”
Old and New Threats Circling the Empire
And like there wasn’t enough chaos going on inside the walls already, the trailer adds Kat McAllister back to the list of power players, as Janet McTeer comes back once again as the crime kingpin of the world who just by existing scares everyone. Alongside her is Toby Jones as retired detective Colin Tattersall who knows the Harrigans well and has more than one reason to bring them down. And new to the chaos is Johnny Flynn who makes an appearance in season 2 to give Harrigans a warning that their “fairytale’s over”.
“We Are the Harrigans” And They Want You to Know It
Among the many quotable lines in the trailer, Conrad marches towards danger shooting down his enemies and yelling, “We are the Harrigans!” followed by, “Don’t know the name? Google us.” This is a brave form of marketing for a crime syndicate, but perhaps the most futuristic 2026 thing that any fiction gangster has ever said. “Firestarter” by The Prodigy plays in the background of all the madness, and it’s either the ultimate needle drop or the most obvious metaphor ever for this family.
MobLand Season 2 Predictions
Given the in-fighting within the family, the emergence of new international threats, and the fact that Harry is not quitting even after he was stabbed by his own wife (hats off to the work ethics of Harry), Season 2 of MobLand seems to take its cues from the chaos which made Season 1 popular because Season 1 smashed the viewership record for the highest premiere of any global series for Paramount+ with a total of 2.2 million global viewers on premiere day.
With Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and the returning cast featuring Janet McTeer and Toby Jones making mischief, not to mention Johnny Flynn making his debut, there’s plenty for fans to look forward to with Season 2. At this point, however, attention is focused squarely on Season 2, with 10 more episodes in store from Paramount+, though there’s no chance of peace coming to the Harrigans any time soon.
MobLand Season 2 will launch on Paramount+ worldwide on Friday, September 18, streaming weekly until November 20.
Bottom line
The Harrigans are back. They’re noisier, they’re messier, and they’ve somehow managed to not learn that planning felonies in a family group chat isn’t the best idea. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
